​Big Sur: The Central California Coast

Stretching for about 120 km south of Carmel, the Big Sur coast is one of the most beautiful in North America. Bridges such as the Bixby Bridge were built in the 1930's to span the coast's canyons, coves and rivers. Big Sur has been home to missionaries, lumbermen, fishermen, and smugglers.  Artists and writers have spent time here, including Henry Miller and Jack Kerouac & Beat Poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti.  It is a marvellous and mystical place!
